A short item-transfer line suits neighbouring machines. Between distant bases, compare rail transport with a flying delivery instead. Consider shipment size, loading access and trip frequency, not only vehicle speed. The same transport method will not suit every distance or load.
Follow a shipment from its first warehouse to storage at the receiving base. Label loading areas, agree on its contents and leave room at the destination. A trial delivery often reveals awkward access that is easy to overlook while drawing a route.
