Your first ship does not start with the hull
On ASTRA, a build is no longer a static decoration. Create and Create Aeronautics can turn a mechanism, workshop or complete base into a physical object that moves through the world. A dependable airship therefore begins with purpose, mass and control—not a finished façade.
Build a predictable small prototype first. Scale only after its movement is proven.

1. Give the craft one clear job
Choose the role before placing the first engine:
- a compact scout for short routes;
- a cargo platform for resources;
- a mobile Create workshop;
- a full flying base for a team.
The role determines size, reserve thrust and internal layout. Trying to make one craft fast, heavily armoured and enormous at the same time lets mass grow faster than control.
2. Build a test frame
Start with a simple symmetrical frame and mark the expected centre of mass. The first test only needs to prove that the craft climbs, stays level and responds without violent oscillation. Decoration can wait: every extra block adds mass and another variable to diagnose.
3. Separate lift from control
Lift keeps the craft airborne; control surfaces determine direction and stability. Always keep a power reserve. A ship that barely rises while empty will become unstable as soon as storage, machinery and armour are installed.
| System | Check | Warning sign |
|---|---|---|
| Lift | reserve thrust under load | gradual loss of altitude |
| Balance | symmetry around mass centre | permanent roll to one side |
| Steering | even control response | jerks and oscillation |
| Power | stable rotational transfer | systems stop under load |
4. Add one system at a time
Once the frame flies reliably, install storage, workshop, farm and living modules in separate stages. Run a short test route after every major change. This makes it obvious which addition shifted the balance or exhausted the power reserve.
- the empty frame holds altitude;
- every control direction responds;
- the ship remains stable at half load;
- machinery works while the ship moves;
- a safe landing procedure exists.
5. Create the silhouette last
After the engineering foundation is dependable, shape the decks, windows, lighting and recognisable details. ASTRA has no single correct hull. Build an industrial platform, an airship, a vessel—or a familiar home that can lift away and start travelling.
